- Building or Sports Volunteering in Eswatini Kruger Safari
What is the Building or Sports Volunteering in Swaziland all about?
Combine travel and volunteering in South Africa with our bespoke Kruger to Swaziland Building and Volunteer Adventure. Your journey will begin in South Africa; the Rainbow Nation. Best known for its wealth of wildlife, breathtaking scenery and cultural diversity you will begin your 2 weeks with aplomb in Kruger National Park, South Africa’s largest and most popular National Park. Here you will have the opportunity to tour Kruger whilst starting to understand and observe the global importance the National Park holds in terms of conservation and biodiversity. Your African Adventure continues as you leave Kruger and head to Swaziland where you will become involved in a rewarding yet challenging building project to help Orphaned and Vulnerable Children. At the end of your volunteer project, you will have the opportunity to make the most of your last free weekend and experience Swaziland at its best; as a true microcosm of Africa.
This project offers a unique blend of travel and volunteering giving you the chance not only to get up close and personal with big game in Kruger’s National Park, but also to help build much-needed infrastructure for the Orphaned and Vulnerable Children of Swaziland. Why choose this Building or Sports Volunteer project?
Building work is very labour intensive and volunteers help local workers to tackle the task of building, restoring or painting homes and community buildings in Swaziland. The buildings are used by the more vulnerable in society so it is very important that this work is completed quickly. Not only will you use your time effectively, you will help on a project that benefits those most in need.
Role of the Conservation volunteer
You will work alongside local builders and construction workers, as well as other locals assisting with the build. Your activities will very much depend on the needs of the project at the time of your placement so you may be building, you may be digging, you may be painting. Please be prepared to help out where you are needed.
Conservation Tour, Kruger National Park
Once you have completed your initial orientation, you will embark on a 5-day, 4-night camping safari in the heart of South Africa’s Kruger National Park. The conservation tour includes unlimited game drives to explore just some of the wildlife that the 20,000 km2 Kruger National Park has to offer. With the help of a trained tour guide, you’ll be able to venture through the vast wilderness in search of Africa’s Big 5. From lions to elephants, rhinos, buffalos and leopards, Kruger has it all. During the tour, you will also have the opportunity to take part in either a sunset or a night drive round the park to seek out some nocturnal wildlife. During your stay in Kruger, your tour guide will also teach you about the animals and plants of the African Plains and help you to understand why conservation of this beautiful and fragile eco-system is so important.
What skills will I need to be a Building Volunteer or Sports Volunteer in Swaziland?
A level of physical fitness is required to participate in this project as it is a manual volunteering placement. You may well be working in temperatures that are warmer than you are used to, so please make sure you have undertaken some exercise before the start of your placement. You do not need any skills for the safari element of this tour, just a willingness to try something new! All volunteers should enjoy spending time with others and working as a team, to make the most out of this placement.
All volunteers will be asked to attend a short telephone interview, and for volunteers aged 16 or 17, parental consent forms will be required.
