Beatrice’s Thailand Experience
I’m doing well, thanks! The city is so beautiful and people are so friendly.

Things are going smoothly, and our on-site coordinator and I had a fun adventure together last Friday.
The team have been amazing and so welcoming, and the project has been really good as well!
Kaya is a very good, reputable company who are invested in making sure that you feel happy and safe whilst on your placement and that you are well informed in advance. They are always just an email or phone-call away if needed. I found all correspondence extremely helpful and would recommend this company to anyone interested in volunteering abroad.
The local team has been so lovely and helpful, giving me lots of recommendations and advice. The host family I’m staying with have welcomed me very warmly as well.
I really enjoyed my internship site. I really enjoyed being able to make connections with various doctors and nurses that worked on site. They always made sure I understood the situation the patient and they let me in on their thought process going towards the diagnosis. I really enjoyed being able to look at X-Rays with the doctors and being able to talk about what I saw before they told me their diagnosis. I spent a lot of time in the maternity ward at the clinic and I really enjoyed being able to help admit the patients and then seeing the patient through for their time at the clinic
My greatest achievement was gaining the confidence to lead a session.
I had the time of my life while I was at the project!
Things went well at my placement in the Philippines and the organization I worked with was really amazing!
Volunteering or interning with Kaya is a great opportunity to see a country and meet with people on a day-to-day level and have a very different experience than just traveling.
Kaya has a pretty straightforward process in getting prepared for the trip. Once I had completed my To-Do list, all I had left was to pack and get ready to go.
I think that the pre-travel checklist and the online portal that participants have access to prior to their departure is amazing. I think that Kaya is very good at communication and provides great support.
I have been enjoying my stay! My homestay Mom is a retired secretary for the University of Cape Coast and lived in Virginia for a few years so we can relate to each other about the US and life on a college campus.
I am doing really good! I’m still very much enjoying Thailand and living here and working here! I am not homesick at all!
I had a fantastic time during my stay. Everything went remarkably well. The host family I stayed with was lovely, and I made rapid progress in learning Spanish.
It’s been going good so far! I’ve been working a lot at the clinic and doing some community work within the villages.
My favorite element of the remote internship was Teaching ESL! It’s where my heart lies. I’m also grateful for the online teaching experience because that is very important to have.
The buddy chats are super nice and really good at including everyone.
For anyone looking into doing virtual internship, don’t be intimidated and dive right in! You will learn about the cool technological resources you can use to enhance your work and communication.
The project placement was right up my alley. I got to research all different sorts of species. It truly was the best way you could have a wildlife internship online.
I loved the cultural workshops as it was very educational, I am glad that they were included in my remote internship. It made me learn more about Ecuador. Through my buddy chat, I now have a new friend and someone I could connect with if I ever get to go to Ecuador.
My internship taught me more than I have learned in all of my classes and that really challenged me. It prepared me a lot for my future and I am excited to head into the Public Health field once I graduate.
Part of my internship, the doctor I worked with wanted to make sure I was able to multitask because often times you end up doing that in the field. I was able to work on my personal project, coordinate the handover, research different organizations, all while still doing my everyday school work through my university. It was very fulfilling to multitask and get everything down while helping others.
It was such an amazing experience to work as a teaching intern during my remote internship. I felt so connected with both the staff and the students. I’ve learned so much from them and I hope to be able to visit in person someday.
The cultural workshops were so much fun and gave me insight on the culture that I think is necessary when creating intercultural relationships. My favorite element of this remote internship experience were the friendships I have made from it. I hope that they stay with me forever!
I have gained new experiences on my remote internship like working on a new platform, using Intercom and learning how companies can use these resources.
I learned so many valuable skills about International Publishing and technical work.
My supervisor was lovely to work with and she has been very supportive of me. I hope to keep in touch with her.
