Media & Journalism Volunteer Projects
As a journalism volunteer you will be working with an organisation that is looking for justice for its readers and to increase awareness of their rights. You will write copy in English, participate in research for articles, and produce content for online or print media. You may also be asked to proof-read articles by non-native English speakers, and run language sessions to develop the skills of the staff. As a media volunteer you will work with print, video and photographic materials to promote an organisation and its work mainly online and also in paper form.
Organisations are constantly looking for new ideas for articles and content of their online and print media. Learning from international volunteers helps develop the capacity of the organisations through sharing creativity, language and research skills. Many organisations are sorely stretched and access to fresh ideas and content is invaluable in securing new followers and readers. Working in a different country where the laws regarding freedom of speech, especially linked to human rights can be enlightening for those who come from countries where freedom of the press exists.
